PhotoTrack - the
Photographer's Database
by Steve Marshall
PhotoTrack was initially developed for my own use, to keep track of what images had been entered in what competitions or exhibitions. This is important, because usually it is not permitted to enter the same image twice in the same exhibition. At the suggestion of others who saw it, I now offer it to others for a small price.
It requires that you have Microsoft Access 2002 or later on your computer.
Details that you can record about the images themselves include:
Title
Date
Location
Country
State or Region
Capture Type (film/digital)
Film Type
ISO
Filters used
Process Variations (push/pull)
Filing details
Comments
A digital image file can also be associated with the image record
Each image can then have attached to it an unlimited number of "History" items. Details that can be recorded in the history include:
Date
Competition or Exhibition Entered
Category Entered
Image Type (e.g. Transparency, print, digital file etc)
Result Achieved (e.g. First, Acceptance, Commended)
Score
Catalogue Details (Name, page numbers)
Value of any awards won or sales made
Many of these data items are selected from drop-down lists. The contents of most of these lists are under control of the user, and can be added to, changed etc. A PDF describing many of the main functions of PhotoTrack and including screenshots can be viewed by clicking here. You can save this PDF to your own computer's disk.
PhotoTrack is AU$50, payable by mailing a cheque or by using the PayMate online payment service. E-mail us for details or go to our shop.
