WAN Communications was formed in November 2003 by the directors of Emery Corporation's West Australian Networks Est.1994.

Niche markets for high quality, cost effective voice solutions were seen as the ideal starting point for the newly formed entity to tackle the market space traditionally dominated by large telecommunications companies. A clever network design incorporating Voice Over IP (VOIP or Voice Over the Internet) technology provides a level of flexibility that is simply not available with traditional circuit switched (standard phone) networks.
