WAN Communications
was formed in November 2003 by the directors of Emery Corporation’s West Australian
Networks Est.1994.
Niche
markets for high quality, cost effective voice solutions were seen as the ideal
starting point for the newly formed entity to tackle the
market space traditionally dominated by large telecommunications companies. A clever network design incorporating Voice
Over IP
(VOIP or Voice Over the Internet) technology provides a level of flexibility
that is simply not available with traditional circuit switched
(standard phone) networks. In addition,
our aggregated purchasing base provides WAN Communications with excellent rates
to pass
onto our clients.
WAN
Communications strong customer service philosophy, quick response times and
low operational overhead make us the ideal partner
for any business looking to increase profitability by adding flexibility and
operational cost reduction.
WAN
Communications directors have extensive experience in the fields of voice, carrier
and Internet services. Existing business
entities
cover thousands of dial and DSL clients, and the full suite of local, mobile,
national and international telephony coverage.
Sound
company management combined with a strong customer service philosophy continues
to ensure the business has a solid future
moving forward.
The
WAN Communications Business IP solution is based around Cisco Systems Call Manager.
Call Manager is a software based call
processing system offering enterprise telephony features. As WAN Communications has installed this system
into our network, the
features are available to subscribers through any quality Internet (IP) connection.
This means that small to medium enterprise
can take advantage of an enterprise level telephony system, without the associated
prohibitive cost of the hardware and software installation.
Your
onsite PABX is no longer required as this functionality is supplied via your
Internet / IP connection. The solution
is as simple as
plugging your IP handsets into your Internet connection and commence calling.
There
are a range of handset options available in either Softphone or Hard Phone formats.
As
the name suggests, the softphone option is a software based telephone keypad
that resides on each computer. This software
provides a greater level of functionality for the money spent when compared
to hard phones, however it is software loaded onto your
computer. In the event that the computer is required to
restart, the phone will be off line for this period of time.
WA
Networks uses (on all laptops) and recommends the IP Blue range of soft phone’s
which emulate Cisco’s physical devices in a more
cost effective software based format.

The V100 VoIP Analog Telephone Adaptor (ATA) connects to
a standard (POTS) telephone and a Cable or DSL Modem/Router to access
a broadband Voice Over IP (VOIP) service. The V100 provides reliable,
real-time Internet voice calls with the quality expected from normal telephone
services. Now Small and Medium Businesses – as well as Home users
– can reap the benefits of VoIP. Until now, these have been limited
to Corporate and Government users with large network capability.

NetComm’s V300 VoIP Telephone Adaptor/Router has been designed for
residential and small business users to deliver predictable real-time voice
quality over the Internet. It connects directly to any broadband modem and
service (Cable or DSL) which supports VoIP.
A standard analogue telephone (desktop or cordless) is connected to the
FXS (Phone) port on the back of the V300, allowing the user to route calls
over the Internet.
The V300 is also equipped with a standard PSTN RJ-11 (Line) port which
allows for the connection of a regular telephone line. With this feature
you can make and receive regular telephone calls with the same handset
you use to make VoIP calls. This feature also acts as a Lifeline or backup
should your VoIP or Broadband service experience difficulties.
The V300 is also equipped with a 3-port switch and Quality of Service
(QoS) router. The V300’s QoS feature ensures you maintain high-quality
VoIP calls during periods of heavy Internet use by dynamically calculating
and shaping the required upstream bandwidth.

WAN
Communications has produced the answer for small to medium enterprise and branch
office solutions with our network based
PABX solution. Using core equipment from the world leading
IP vendor Cisco Systems, WAN Communications Business IP removes the
need to forecast staff numbers at each site by having the ability to grow as
your company grows. New phones and additional
phone lines
can be connected within 48 hours offering a scalable and flexible solution.
Not
only do you get preferential, industry leading prices for your local, mobile,
national and International calls (which of course includes Free
calls to anyone registered to or peering with the WAN Communications / WA Networks
network), you also gain access to your own virtual
PABX without the expense of having to install the hardware yourself.
This extremely flexible design allows you to:
Alleviate
the requirement for an onsite PABX
Standardise
your phones company wide
Say
“Sayonara” to the issue of adds, moves and changes
Reduce
your capital costs
Introduce
flexibility never seen before in a business environment
There
is no need to install a network based PABX any more as WAN Communications has
already done the investment for you. This
will
save you:
-Time – Connection to WAN Communications
is very quick and easy
-Money – Overall implementation costs as
well as your ongoing costs are reduced by using the WAN Communications virtual
Call
Manager solution.
-Ongoing administrative hassles – WAN Communications
ensures that the Call Manager has all of the latest updates and
continues development to add additional features – saving you the hassle.
As
long as you have an Internet / IP connection, you will be able to register to
the Call Manager. This includes access
from home, the
airport whilst waiting for your flight, or anywhere else in the world.
Through
use of the WAN Communications Business IP solution, you will have access to
a common feature set across all sites. This
results
in the same look and feel of your telephony system for all sites across your
organisation, making it easy to introduce company wide
phone system training or for staff to move between locations. The staff can
even take their extention and or outside number with them as
they move between locations. One number per staff member that works where ever
they are.
The
virtual Call Manager solution will allow you to set and forget. If you need to move a phone to another location,
all you have to do is
unplug it from one switch port and move it to another.
The intelligence in the phone allows it to register to the Call Manager
and registers
the new location automatically. There is no need to call in a PABX technician
to re configure the phone system to deal with location
changes – all the while saving you time and money.
Your phones become available where ever you have access to IP making
this solution
ideal for ‘teleworker’ or ‘hot desk’ applications.
WAN
Communications has invested significant amounts of time and money to install
the network based PABX system, so there is no need
for you to do so. As you are allocated your own virtual PABX,
you have all of the functionality with out the up front capital costs. In
addition, consolidation of your voice and data networks reduces support and
implementation costs.
The
flexibility of an IP solution has to been seen to be believed. The options are virtually limitless; however
a number of scenarios to
illustrate the flexibility are listed below:
1.
The Office Move – In a traditional
environment, in order to move your telephone between offices required either
a change of
telephone number or, a PABX change. As
each phone intelligently registers to the Call Manager, you can simply pick
up the phone and
plug it into another switch port and your phone and number will instantly work.
No back end changes are required.
2.
Phone at Home/ Phone at work – You
choose where you would like your phone to ring.
It could be on your desk at work or your
desk at home – you could even be at the airport or overseas.
As long as you have access to an IP connection, you can make and receive
calls.
3.
IVR – Integrated voice receptionist,
would you like to have your clients direct their calls to the correct person
or department
without the need for a receptionist? WAN Communications can provide a fully
functional IVR system for you at a fraction of the cost
required to purchase one, the IVR functionality is built in to our call manager
all we need to do is switch it on for you.
4.
News Headlines, Weather and more flashed
up onto your phone screen? – Not a problem for WAN Communications clients.
5.
Voice mail that automatically e-mails
the message to you – This is a standard feature with our voice mail.
6. Full office systems - WAN Communications can supply, install
and maintain you entire phone service for you.
WAN
Communications really are the Internet / IP telephony specialists. We can tailor a solution to your requirements
that will provide
you with un-paralleled flexibility and cost effectiveness.
